Morgana Run Trail

The Morgana Run Trail, a 2-mile bicycling and walking path stretching from E. 49th Street to Jones Road near Broadway Avenue is one of our community’s best-kept secrets and a national model for engaging urban communities through trails.  Residents can bike down the Morgana Run Trail to the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath trail, which runs for 20 miles into Cuyahoga Valley National Park, or to the Cleveland Metroparks Garfield Park Reservation.

Weaving its way through Broadway Slavic Village, the Morgana Run Trail is a model for transportation-related activities that promote urban revitalization, enhance transportation opportunities and improve pedestrian and vehicle safety. This rail-trail, which utilizes a majority of a former Wheeling & Lake Erie Rail line, connects residents and visitors to the Cleveland Metroparks Mill Creek Park and Trail through the Slavic Village/Broadway and Aetna-Union neighborhoods of Cleveland over to Washington Park and the new First Tee Golf Course. It also connects residents to Stella Walsh Recreation Center, Union Elementary, the new Boys & Girls Club, Cleveland Central Catholic High School, St. Stanislaus Elementary and Mound Elementary School, providing a safe and alternative route to schools and recreational facilities for our community’s youth.

Trail heads are located at the Broadway/Miles intersection; Broadway/Ackley intersection, on Blanche Avenue off of E. 55th; and on E. 49th Street.

Morgana Run Trail is part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Urban Pathway Initiative, a national program that advocates for equitable investment in underserved communities while promoting the health, transportation and environmental benefits of trail use. To find out more about the initiative click here.

Along the trail you’ll find an assortment of exciting projects that enhance the trail experience, including the RotaFlora sculpture and the soon to arrive bird house public art project.  Following are just a few of the characteristics that make Morgana Run Trail one-of-a-kind and a true Slavic Village gem:
