Morgana Run Trail Mural
The Morgana Run Trail is already notable for its existing public art, with the Lextech Industries mural dedicated in June 2009, and they’re not stopping there. The latest artwork to arise on the trail is a 250-foot long mural, currently in the works on the General Machinery Building between E 72nd and E 74th streets.
The inspiration for the mural came from Slavic Village resident Farai Malianga, who was tired of seeing the expansive white wall tagged with graffiti. After successfully applying for a Neighborhood Connections grant, local artists Noah Hrbek and Alex Nosse were brought on board to work with Mr. Malianga and make his ideas a reality.
The mural is being painted by the two artists and other volunteer groups. It is funded by a grant from the Cleveland Foundation.
The vibrant mural pictures physically active Clevelanders — rollerskating, biking and swimming — seemingly bursting out of a colorful patchwork sun. It is scheduled to be completed Spring 2010.
